One side Huawei branded smartphones have taken third place in terms of the number of smartphones shipped in 2015. On the other side, it’s online only brand Honor is on the roll with some amazing launch. The company is not at all in settling mode. It is gearing up for yet another launch, but this time the flagship device for 2016, Honor 8 is getting ready to be unwrapped in China.
As per the reports coming from China, Honor 8 will go official in China on June 25. The invites have been sent out to Chinese media about the conference to be held on July 5.
Can Honor 8 be a great successor to Honor 7?
Without any words, Honor 7 has been a killer flagship for the company till now. It was the perfect sized phone with a high-end specification and aggressively priced. We also got to see Honor 5C with 16nm Kirin 650 processor going official just yesterday. Can Honor 8 iterate the same?
As per the leaks, Honor 8 is expected to feature the faster Kirin 955 processor, a 5.5-inch full HD display, 3200mAh battery with quick charge, infrared port, fingerprint sensor, NFC and USB Type-C port.
In terms of the camera, Honor 8 is expected to come with a dual-camera setup similar to an Honor V8 with dual 12MP sensors on the rear. In the front, there will be an 8MP sensor for selfies and better video calling.
Rumors also suggest that the device will be made available in 4 variants. Here are the details,
- With 32GB storage and without an NFC chip will be priced at ¥1,999 (~ $300)
- With 32GB storage and with an NFC chip will be priced at ¥2,199 (~ $330)
- With 64GB storage and with an NFC chip will be priced at ¥2,499 (~ $380)
- Premium version with 128GB storage and a QHD (1440 x 2560) resolution will be priced at ¥2,799 (~ $425)
All these variants are expected to make available for purchasing starting from 5th of July. It looks like Honor 8 will be priced aggressively again. All these are yet to be officially confirmed by Huawei or its sister company Honor. So for now, take it with a pinch of salt though (if not completely).
