Chinese manufacturers are on a fire lately by launching smartphones at a competitive price. Just a couple of days back Xiaomi launched their much anticipated budget friendly smartphone Redmi 3 at a price tag of 699 Yuan or $106. While we were thinking it could be a competitor for Meizu m2 metal, Lenovo launches a missile from the other end. Lenovo Lemon 3 goes official in China with the same price tag and specifications similar to its Redmi 3.
Lenovo Lemon 3 comes with a same 5-inch display with Full HD resolution compared to an HD screen on Redmi 3. It is powered by same powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with an Adreno 405 high-performance graphics processor. Backed by 2GB of RAM, the device comes with a 16GB inbuilt memory and an expandable storage slot upto 32GB.
With respect to cameras, the Lenovo Lemon 3 comes with a 13MP rear and 5MP front facing camera. It comes with a dual SIM card supporting 4G/LTE.
The device comes with a 2750mAh battery compared to huge 4100mAh battery on Redmi 3. It runs on Android 5.1 out of the box. It’s very obvious that there will be a Lenovo’s own Vibe UI built on top of it which is almost near to stock Android as we saw on K4 Note.
In terms of the ergonomics, the Lenovo Lemon 3 flaunts a full metal body with 7.99mm thickness and 142g. Also, the company’s main USP, Dolby Atmos sound technology will be used in this entry level smartphone as well.
While both the smartphones feature almost same specifications, the Lemon 3 has an upper hand with Full HD display and the Redmi 3 takes away the game with a huge 4100mAh battery.
It’s obvious that the smartphone will have a different name in the international markets. Might as well be called as Lenovo K4 Lite for India? Only time can tell that. For now, the smartphone is up for reservation on Lenovo’s Chinese website.
