One of the most wanted smartphone launches awaited in 2017, is to hear from Nokia. The world is waiting to hear from them, the brand that ruled the mobile market once and vanished post-Microsoft buyout. As per the leaked slide from company’s authorized distribution partner in Malaysia, Avaxx, the company is planning to launch 6-7 Nokia smartphones in 2017 spread across all the segments.
Though Nokia will not be what they were anymore. People are eagerly waiting to see how the company will bounce back. HMD global in partnership with Foxconn is working hard to bring back the legacy brand this year. We are not far away from seeing that happening.
First of Nokia Smartphones to Launch in Second Quarter?
As per the same slide, Nokia smartphones powered by Android OS will start rollout in the second quarter. HMD will continue to innovate in the feature phone segment and will try to maintain the market share. Doing so will completely bring back the company into the mainstream market with both featured and smartphone categories.
As per the rumors, Nokia smartphones are expected to use all the series from Snapdragon. Budget smartphone to power Snapdragon 200 and 400 series whereas mid-range device to come with Snapdragon 600 series. Last but not least, we might also see the top end a.k.a flagship device to feature recently launched Snapdragon 835 SoC.
What do we know about Nokia E1, D1, D1C and Z2 Plus?
Yes, Nokia smartphones are around the corner. So does the leaks and rumors!
Starting with Nokia E1, this might be the entry level smartphone from the company which will be powered by Snapdragon 200 series processor. It is also expected to feature a 5.5-inch display, 1GB of RAM and runs on Android Nougat out of the box. The device might be launched under $100 price tag.
The mid-range Nokia D1 and D1C are expected to come with Snapdragon 430 processor. It is expected to come in two variants – 2GB and 3GB RAM variants. There will be 16MP rear snapper and 13MP selfie camera. It will also feature a 5.5-inch display and will run on Android Nougat. The 2GB variant is touted to be priced at $150 and 3GB variant at $200 price tag.
Lastly, we might also see a flagship device in the name of Z2 Plus from the company on its return this year.
Will Nokia Stick to Basics?
Though HMD Global is going to handle starting with design to delivery, Nokia will be involved in all the stages. Thus, the company will be on the backstage. But will they stick to basics what it did from past 150 years? As per the rumors again, the company is expected to concentrate mainly on China and India which has been their go-to countries for their success.
The company might make its presence in MWC 2017 and we will finally get to see Nokia smartphones powered by Android OS!
