It’s been quite long that the most luxurious Zenfone made it’s debut in India. The power packed beauty is a very distinguishable device in its own. After spending some time with the device all we can say is you just cannot stop from falling in love with it’s simplicity again and again. The Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe sits at the middle of the mid-range price segment and apart from being one of the most powerful smartphone in it’s range, the Zenfone deluxe has a charm of it’s own.
Let’s Begin With The Design!
To be honest about it, there has been a lot of work done in crafting the natural crystal inspired back of the device. The texture on the back 500+ polygons that not only help your senses but also allows a more firm grip for the ones with slippery hands. According to ASUS,
In order to seamlessly connect each polygonal surface, our designer hand crafted the curved yet dimensional design. Surface by surface, dot by dot, eventually make the crystal miracle happened on a smartphone design. The unique and exclusive chameleon-like coating makes the Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe shine and sparkle differently from perspectives.
The overall effort put into crafting this piece of art actually shows up when you get to hold the device in your hands.
It’s because of the ergonomics and placement of the Volume rocker on the rear part of the device that the humongous device(Don’t judge it yet, the Zenfone 2 Deluxe has a very neat 72 % screen to body ratio!) is much easier for one handed operation. However, we would’ve loved it more if the construction quality checks could’ve taken care of the queaky sounds that come out of the plastic construction when you try to go for a stronger hold.
Although the Zenfone 2 Deluxe looks beautiful from the outside, it’s what on the inside that matters to the end user!
Intel Atom Z3580, 4 Gigabytes of DDR3 Dual-Channel RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Let’s talk about Performance.
The Intel Atom Z3580 has a Quad-core setup with it’s four cores ticking at 2.3 GHz of clockspeed and what makes this setup even more multitasking friendly is the presence of Intel’s hyperthreading technology! Couple that up with 4 Gigabytes of RAM and you’re in for a showdown.
The ZenUI running on top of Android 5.0 is solidly backed up by a flagship crunching chipset which rakes up a score of 40k+ on Antutu Benchmark very easily. The ZenUI is pretty much refined from what we’ve seen on earlier versions of Zenfones but it still lacks a certain touch when you try to put it up against the likes of Flyme OS or MIUI for the same! However, it does it’s job perfectly fine by keeping the things simple. You hardly miss a frame or notice any lags in the UI when you’re using the device which is actually what matters for the end user.
The new ZenUI comes topped up with some fresh new features like ZenMotion, SnapView, Trend Micro™ Security, the Zenflash app which extends the support for an external flash and ZenUI Instant Updates which promises an enhanced user experience with frequent system and security updates.
A Cool UI, Huge Display And A Great Camera. The Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe has got it all!
The device comes with a 13 Megapixel primary camera featuring the Pixel Master 2.0 technology that promises enhanced low light photography. The first implementation of the Pixel Master technology in the first edition Zenfone won every single critic’s heart and the Zenfone 2 Deluxe doesn’t disappoint either (We couldn’t provide camera samples because of some issues with our primary data storage).
The HDR quality is good but not as beautiful as you see on some other phones. The Zenfone 2 Deluxe sometimes overdoes the HDR rendering which does makes the photos look a bit unrealistic. However, the software provides you with plenty of options to go all manual and bring the best out of a very capable piece of hardware which features a Toshiba made imaging sensor.
On the front is an 85 degree wide angle 5 megapixel camera which allows your selfies to be bigger and sharper. Again, the front snapper too has it’s issues with the overdone HDR but the clarity of the images is very good. To top it all, it comes with a very neat beautification mode which makes everyone look more beautiful, Almost(That hurts!).
A 3000 mAh Battery Makes The New Zenfone Even More Reliable.
We were just taken away with the battery performance of the Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe. Even though it is a 5.5 inch Dual SIM device with Cat 4+ LTE support (that offers blistering speeds upto 250 Mbps), the Zenfone 2 surprises you with it’s reliability. On a single charge, the battery can easily do a day and a half which could be extended further if you’re on a stable network and not a heavy multitasker.
What makes this mix a lot more interesting is the support for quick charging featuring the Boost Master technology. With this, ASUS promises the phone to complete the first 60% of charge in only 39 minutes while in real life, it can be faster by a minute or two.
The overall battery performance was so fascinating that we could not stop getting more and more fond of it because what it does is that it makes the Zenfone 2 Deluxe stand firm in front of the competition in what is the potentially toughest pricing segment to compete in.
All Set To Rule The Segment? Needs a Little More Refinement.
With competition like the Oneplus Two and Lenovo’s VibeShot roaring ahead and yesteryear’s Oneplus One and the Xiaomi Mi4 barricading from the other side, the Zenfone 2 Deluxe has got a very tough alley to bowl in. Although the pricing is very neat for the hardware, a little bit of aggression would’ve been pretty handy when you’re up in the league to face the champs!
To sum it up, the Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe has got many selling points but it’s true identity lies in the design philosophy out of which this piece of art as been carved out. Again, the Zenfone branding has earned a lot of respect over the past year but tell me one thing, wasn’t that an entirely different price segment to compete in?
