Xiaomi announces WiFi routers and stepping into 10 new Countries


Xiaomi a brand known for Apple of China has today released a couple of WiFi routers along with a TV box. Mi Router, Mi Router Mini and Mi Box enhanced edition are the 3 devices which were announced today with very less price tag.


The company recently roped in Hugo Barra, who worked at Google as vice president of product management for Android. His vision to expand the business will bring Xiaomi devices to 10 new countries in 2014 and those are, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, Turkey, Brazil and Mexico. The list clearly shows the countries which are led by cheaper handsets.

Here is the information on three devices launched by Xiaomi today.

Millet (Mi) Mini Router

My mini router is a new addition to Xiaomi’s wifi router list, which looks very similar to Lenovo yoga. An AC router capable of delivering 3 times faster speed than the ordinary routers. This device comes with dual-band dual-antenna which can deliver 2.4GHz/5GHz speed bands.

The user can even connect hard drive via USB cable and have a small home server to store photo video playback on the phone, pad and smart TV. The Mi Router Mini will be available in a variety of color options including white, black, orange, cyan, lime and pink

Mi Router

This is a full fledged router from the company which comes in cylindrical shape. Again a dual band router supporting latest 802.11ac protocol having a transfer rate upto 1167 Mbps. That is again a 3 times faster than ordinary router.

This router also comes with 1TB Samsung / Seagate hard drive which can provide an extra bit of storage inside the router itself.

Cost: $112

Mi Box Enhanced Edition

As the name suggests, this is an enhanced version of the older Mi Box. Support for 4K Ultra HD resolution, four times that of 1080p. Comes with a 2GHz Cortex-A9 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 4GB flash and an microSD card slot capable of holding upto 64GB card. Supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Cost: $63

All these devices feature an amazing outlook and comes with dead cheap price tag. Currently available in Chinese market only. But soon be available in 10 more countries as announced.
