YU, a sub-brand from Micromax is all set to move from budget friendly device offering to a flagship device maker. It was rumored along with their Yunique device launch that we will be expecting a flagship device from the brand this year. But it turned out to be “rumor only”. However, the latest reports hint at the possible launch of YU Yutopia as early as next month with a high end specifications.
What supposed be tagged as “world’s most powerful smartphone” is being cooked under-the-hoods of YU has been reported by BGR India. The sources working on the project have also confirmed that the device will be “Made in India” (or call it as a “Make in India” or “Assembled in India”).

As we don’t really have any details about the device and going by the tagline of the device, the earlier leaked YU 5050 could be the YU Yutopia. As per the data received from the previous leaks, Yutopia might feature an under clocked Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor along with 4GB of RAM. It will flaunt an 5.2 inch with 2K display, 21MP rear camera and 8MP front facing camera. There will be 32GB inbuilt memory with a possible slot for memory expansion as well.
Also, there is a confusion about two variants, one with 3GB RAM and Full HD 1080p display and another with 4GB RAM and 2K display. Only time can tell what is authentic.
The sources also say that “This would be a no-compromise smartphone, with the best specifications and the highest benchmark rating”. These words and specification sheet of the device points at a “Flagship Killer” OnePlus 2 rival.
Well, the baseline is, YU is all set unveil a flagship device this year. Their first shot at being named as a budget device to a flagship maker. They will surely have an uphill task ahead to compete against likes of Xiaomi, OnePlus and other worth-the-money device makers. Can YU Yutopia sustain the crowded smartphone market? Let’s wait for few more days and check it out.
